I just talked with my wife. We're both tired of feeling angry. We both feel powerless. She's tired of fighting with our lawyer, whom we are paying, to fight for her right to claim just one of our two children on our yearly taxes. We both have no idea of how we can stop being beaten. It's sad that there is no help. I wanted to do something. Anything.
I just sent this email to both of my senators. I don't know if it will help, but I'm not certain what else to do. I'll post their response if I receive one. Please feel free to cut and paste this message into an email to your senator or congressman or woman. Maybe we can, at least, get some answers.
The United States currently is $14.9 trillion in debt. Exxon Mobil, Bank of America, General Electric, Chevron, Boeing, Valero Energy, Chevron and ConocoPhillips paid no taxes and received huge tax refunds. 55% of business in America do not pay taxes. My wife and I paid 10% of our income to the federal government last year. We make about $30,000 a year and have a hard time making ends meet. We receive no kind of government financial assistance, no tax breaks for either of our children, and make too much money to qualify for food stamps. You have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, in which you promised not to raise taxes on businesses and corporations and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits for businesses. Please explain how this decision is good for me, my family, the economy, or our nation.
